Magnesium: Benefits, Dosage, Types and Evidence

Magnesium is essential, but “essential” does not mean everyone needs a supplement.

The clearest reasons to use one are a confirmed deficiency, a real dietary gap, or a specific clinician-guided use. Evidence for migraine prevention and a small blood-pressure effect is meaningful but not magic; popular sleep, anxiety and muscle-cramp claims are much less certain.1,3,4,6,8
