Iodine supplements: who may benefit, how much is safe, and why kelp is not a precise dose

Iodine is essential, but a supplement helps mainly when a life-stage guideline recommends it or diet and regional context make low intake likely.

Choose a precisely labelled nutritional dose, not a milligram protocol or an unpredictable kelp or sea-moss dose. Thyroid disease, pregnancy, medicines and radioactive-iodine care change the decision.1,2,3,4,10,11,13,16
